Call for Papers update
The Journal On-Tourism & Sustainability (JOTS) is an open-access, peer-reviewed outlet advancing critical thinking on tourism as a catalyst for sustainable development.
We invite theoretical, conceptual and empirical manuscripts for forthcoming issues of the journal.
JOTS welcomes interdisciplinary and comparative work covering a broad range of subjects within tourism and sustainability. First-time authors and early-career researchers are also encouraged to submit.
Scope and suggested themes: submissions are welcomed on subjects including, but not limited to, conservationism; dark tourism; destination marketing and tourism demand; development and policy; eco-tourism as a force for development; environmentalism; events and festivals; impacts of tourism; and methodologies in tourism research.
Further themes include mountain tourism; physiological preparation of mountaineers; religious and spiritual tourism; rural tourism, homestays and cultural experiences; small and medium-sized enterprises; sustainable niche tourism; tourism dependency; tourism strategies; voluntourism and travel philanthropy; and wellness tourism.
Interdisciplinary and comparative work is welcome. We particularly encourage submissions that contribute critically to the understanding of tourism and its relationship with sustainable development.
Context
JOTS considers the following article types:
• Full papers: up to 6,000 words, including references, with a 200–250-word abstract and 5–6 keywords. Papers are subject to double-blind review by two referees.
• Research notes: up to 3,000 words, with a 200-word abstract and 5–6 keywords. Research notes are subject to double-blind review.
• Industry reports: up to 2,000 words, with a 200-word abstract and 5–6 keywords. Industry reports are subject to double-blind review.
• Conference reports: up to 1,000 words, subject to editorial review.
• Book reviews: up to 800 words, subject to editorial review.
Further details
Author responsibilities: authors should submit original work that is not under consideration by another publication; follow the JOTS formatting and referencing requirements; include figures and tables in the appropriate position within the manuscript and avoid the use of footnotes; disclose any conflicts of interest; obtain permission to reproduce previously published material; and obtain the written agreement of all authors before requesting any change in authorship.
Review and publication: submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment followed, where appropriate, by double-blind peer review conducted by two independent reviewers. Accepted manuscripts are copy-edited and published open access.
JOTS does not charge submission fees, publication fees or article-processing charges. Nothing.
